The Twilight series 

Bella is a helpless female in this series who relies completely on Edward (a vampire).  She gives up all hopes of college and abandons her friends and family to marry Edward and have his baby, all at the age of 18.  In society teen mothers are looked down upon, however, in these books Edward is glorified as her hero.

Grease

At the end of this movie the main female character, Sandy, changes who she is for Danny, the main male character.  This movie was produced in 1978, it encourages women to change who they are to please men instead of embracing themselves for who they already are.

Cinderella

This Disney princess movie’s main character, Cinderella, is a young women who lives with her step mother and two step sister.  She is treated like a slave.  It is not until she meets her “prince charming” that her life is able to change for the better.  This movie gives girls the false idea that in order to improve their lives they need a man to come and be their hero.

The Sandlot

"You play ball like a girl!" In this movie, that is the ultimate insult to the young boys who are in the midst of an argument on the field.  What does this say about girls and their abilities? 

Gidget

"To be a real woman, is to bring out the best in a man."  This movie takes place in the 1950’s. The main female character has a dream of becoming a surfer, however, that is hard to do when a women is expected to be a homemaker.
